Meet Dr. Yi Zheng – Owner
Dr. Yi Zheng is a highly skilled optometrist with extensive experience in providing quality eye care across Canada. Originally from Montreal, Dr. Zheng pursued his optometry education at the University of Waterloo and completed an internship at the renowned John D. Dingell VA Medical Center in Detroit, where he gained valuable insights into treating a wide range of eye conditions.
Dr. Zheng’s career has taken him from Northern Alberta to British Columbia, where he further broadened his expertise by working in both urban and rural settings. His diverse experience allows him to cater to the unique needs of each patient, whether in busy city clinics or more remote communities.
In his free time, Dr. Zheng enjoys fishing at Clearwater Lake and pursues his interests in a variety of sports. His combination of professional experience and personal interests makes him approachable and deeply committed to providing the best eye care possible.
Meet Dr. Fred Cho
Dr. Cho earned his Honors Bachelor of Medical Sciences degree from Western University, followed by a Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Waterloo. He developed a specialized focus on ocular disease during his practical training in Mobile, Alabama, where he worked alongside ophthalmologists in various specialties (LASIK, retinal disease, cornea, neuro-ophthalmology, and oculoplastics).
Inspired by his own optometrist during his formative years, Dr. Cho pursued a path in optometry with dedication. During a mission trip to Chiapa de Corzo, Mexico, he and fellow optometry students provided eye care to individuals with limited access to healthcare. This experience fostered in him a deep commitment to transparency and patient-centered care. He prioritizes thorough patient education, which empowers individuals to make well-informed decisions about their ocular health.
Dr. Cho is dedicated to providing comprehensive, high-quality eye care and is a member of the Manitoba Association of Optometrists, the College of Optometrists of Ontario, and the Canadian Association of Optometrists.
In his spare time, Dr. Cho publishes blog articles on well-being, trains for marathons and mentors optometry students.

Giving Back
At Clearwater Optometry, our team is dedicated to giving back to the community in meaningful ways. We believe everyone deserves access to quality eye care, which is why we are developing a program to bring the same high-level care to remote communities as those in larger centres.
We also take pride in supporting local events, including participating in the Northern Manitoba Trappers’ Festival, and staying active in the community through our sponsorship of the Northern Manitoba Blizzard hockey team.
